Know how face tapping can help you achieve your skincare goals

Face tapping may look silly and funny, but you may find yourself going tap-tap all day after reading its health benefits to slow down the signs of ageing!

That’s right, face tapping has scientifically proven anti-ageing benefits. Face tapping is just another type of facial exercise that helps in controlling the sagging of skin and formation of wrinkles after a certain age.

It has been quite some time now that the world has been going gaga over Korean beauties. Everyone wants to know their skincare routine, what they eat and what products they use to get a forever young looking skin. But it is also believed that face tapping is the secret to their beauty. Koreans make a habit of gently tapping the skincare products on their face instead of rubbing it on like most of us do.

Benefits of face tapping to prevent ageing skin:

  1. Allows our skin to breathe

With the help of face tapping we are able to stimulate our skin with pressure of our fingertips and that helps in improving the blood circulation in our facial area. This improves the flow of oxygen and allows the skin to breathe. Studies have shown that a good flow of oxygen is necessary to slow down the aging process.

  1. Prevents skin laxity

A 2018 study published in the JAMA Dermatology, shows that daily 30-minute facial exercises, like face tapping, performed for 4 months showed significant improvement in upper and lower cheek fullness. It proved that face tapping and other techniques like facial “yoga” can rejuvenate the aging face, presumably by inducing underlying muscle growth.

  1. Protects from free-radicals damage

Face tapping also encourages lymph drainage which helps eliminate the damage from free radicals. Free radicals are responsible for breaking down our skin’s collagen, resulting in unflattering skin blemishes like wrinkling, dark spots, fine lines and loose, saggy skin.

You can include face tapping in your everyday routine by doing it when you are applying lotion to your face or after washing your face. You can also do this face tapping exercise as suggested by Pooja Luthra, a home remedy expert, on her Instagram page.

How to perform face tapping exercise:

Step 1

Hold your breath and fill your mouth with as much air as you can.

Step 2

After this start tapping your face for as long as you can and as hard as you can without hurting yourself. Make sure you cover all the areas on your face like cheeks, forehead, on the eyes, etc.

Step 3

Take a deep breath and repeat the process at least 3-4 times.
