Which is better for under eye care: Eye creams, eye gels, or eye masks?

In this hot and fiery summer, our eyes also demand a hydrating under-eye routine just like our skin. Irrespective of gender and age, good under-eye care is essential. And, to cater to this segment many brands have come up with eye creams, gels, and masks. The difference between an eye cream and a gel is their texture, whereas, eye masks are special cutouts that contain all of the components that give extra nourishment and moisture to the skin around your eyes, which is thinner. However, there’s one common thing in all three be it the eye mask, eye cream, or eye gel serum, they all give nourishment and gradient to your eyes.

HealthShots got in touch with skin expert Anjula Masurkar, who helped us find the right product for every under eye concern.

Masurkar says, “All three products contain varied ingredients which make them effective for different types of concerns. Here is a guide for choosing the right under eye care for yourself.”

3 under eye care products to choose from are:

1. Eye creams:

Eye creams contain a combination of vitamins A, C, and E, as well as anti-aging antioxidants. For dark circles, eye creams are perfect for skin due to their brightening agents. The naturally occurring ultra-moisturizing ingredients in creams are quickly absorbed into the area around the eyes. It produces visible results

2. Eye gels:

Masurkar says, “Gels are great for smoothing, refreshing, and reducing puffiness in the morning because of their cooling effect. Most eye gels have a soft, smooth feel that works nicely under makeup and don’t cause concealer to wrinkle into lines and don’t budge eyeliner and mascara.”

What ingredients must we look for your under eye concerns?

Masurkar advises that any eye beauty ingredients you seek should be selected solely on the basis of under eye problems like the following:

  1. If you’re concerned about dark circles, seek niacinamide, idebenone, glycolic acid, vitamin C, black pearl extract, and others that brighten the skin.
  2. Vitamin C, idebenone, gold dust, retinol, and other anti-ageing ingredients are perfect to treat wrinkles and fine lines.
  3. Look for moisturizing compounds like hyaluronic acid, aloe, green tea, collagen, and others if your eyes appear fatigued. Also ladies, you should not expect instant results from eye masks. However, eye gel and serum can soothe inflammation and treat puffiness instantly. All these 3 products have their own set of benefits if used at the right time for the right issue.
