“The reason for dull hair, thinning of hair or hair fall is due to various factors such as unhealthy diet and lifestyle, using excessive hair products and styling tools, lack of nourishment, not proper care for hair, pollution or even genetics,” says Dr Dadu.

Here are a few natural ways to make your hair thicker:

1. Onion juice

Onions have anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties that help to keep scalp problems at bay while providing support for the hair to grow in strength and number. Onions are a great source of sulphur, which is one of the main components of the hair protein keratin. Regular use of onions in the form of onion juice or hair oil can provide intense nourishment to the scalp, stimulate hair growth, strengthen hair roots and reduce hair loss.

2. Hair masks

Using a herbal hair mask can hydrate the hair strands deep from the roots to the tips. It penetrates to a suitable depth into the scalp and helps in increasing the hair thickness and bringing back its natural shine.

3. Castor oil

Castor oil focuses on promoting the growth and thickness of hair. It is rich in antioxidants, proteins, vitamins, and fatty acids, which increase blood circulation and nourish the scalp. It also helps in attracting dirt and oil buildup, which cleanses the hair follicles while locking in scalp and strand moisture.
